Online Misogyny and Toxic Masculinity Erste Bank Group AG
Keynotes & Panel with Ingrid Brodnig and Christoph May
Organized by Mirsad Aljušević / Moderation by Džana Šorlija
One in three women experiences online violence at least once a year. Among 15- to 18-year-olds, it’s even two-thirds. These alarming figures come from the Network of Austrian Women’s and Girls‘ Counseling Centers.
As part of our Orange-The-World Initiative, we dedicated an evening to the topic of online misogyny. Our speakers, Ingrid Brodnig and Christoph May, delivered insightful keynotes on gender-specific aspects of online hate as well as on male-dominated cultures of violence, silence, and obstruction. They also highlighted strategies for how women and men can stand together against it.
The event invited all colleagues – explicitly including our male colleagues – to participate and take active steps against online violence. After all, digital violence often does not begin or end on the internet.
